- Folio 359. Letter from [J Stephenson], Clerk pro tem, to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, in reply to their letter dated 3 August 1842, 9651/B/1842, relating to the charges against Mr Valantine [Medical Officer] in the case of Sarah Witham of Sutton in Ashfield, who died 29 January 1842. The relieving officer has stated that no application was made to him, other than for the order for the medical officer to attend, until the morning of the 29 January 1842. When by the direction of the surgeon he furnished necessities to the value of 4s 3d. The relieving officer cannot recollect what articles were stated in the medical certificate. Annotation: [illegible] relating to bills. Paper Number: 10883/B/1842 Poor Law Union Number 337. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
