Folio 306. Letter from Parsons and Benn to the Poor Law Commission, written at Mansfield. They acknowledge receipt of the Commission's letter dated 27 June 1842 addressed to Mr Parsons, which was a reply to a communication respecting the Sutton in Ashfield arrear of contribution to the Mansfield Poor Law Union. They ask the Commission for their opinion as to whether 'the liability of a Churchwarden who was in Office at the time an Order was made continues notwithstanding he ceases now to be in Office', and they refer to 2& 3 Vic c 84. They explain that they are asking again because the Commission's letter refers to the Poor Law Amendment Act, s 98, and they refer the Commission to 3& 4 Vic c 84 s 4. Paper Number: 8873/B/1842. Poor Law Union Number 337. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
