- Folio 215. Draft letter from Poor Law Commission to William Powell, Clerk to the Guardians of the Newport Pagnell Poor Law Union saying that the Commission have been informed that it is proposed to elect one of the relieving officers of the Newport Pagnell Poor Law Union to the post of high constable. The Commission do not wish to suspend the rule which required relieving officers to devote all of their time to their duties, and ask as to the extent of the duties of a high constable and what time they would take. Paper Number: 8929/A/1839.
