Folio 13: case no 199, George Harding, aged 21, Able Seaman; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 27 May 1856, sent 1 June 1856 to Hospital of Santa Isabel, returned 9 June 1856. Folio 13: case no 203, Thomas Ball, aged 37, Private Marine; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 28 May 1856, sent 1 June 1856 to Hospital of Santa Isabel, returned 20 June 1856. Folio 13: case no 204, George Edgscombe, aged 18, Boy; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 28 May 1856, sent 1 June 1856 to Hospital of Santa Isabel, returned 20 June 1856. Folio 13: surgeon's noted, the following 6 cases were of the same description as the preceeding, but had no treatment on board in consequence of the surgeon himself was in the hospital. They were all immediately sent to hospital and consigned to the care of Drs. Luiz Carrea De Agevado, Jose Firminio Vellez & Jose Jeixeira De Souza. Folio 13: case no 213, Edward Hoskins, aged 18, Boy; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 1 June 1856, sent 1 June 1856 to Hospital of Santa Isabel, returned 19 June 1856. Folio 13: case no 215, Frederick Anderson, aged 22, Private Marine; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 2 June 1856, sent 3 June 1856 to Hospital of Santa Isabel, returned 19 June 1856. Folio 13: case no 220, John West, aged 38, Able Seaman; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow), this was a second attacked of the same character (case no 143) but not quite so severe, in which the surgeon stated that he used this as a type of all the cases of this description; put on sick list 6 June 1856, sent 6 June 1856 to Hospital of Santa Isabel, returned 20 June 1856. Folio 13: case no 224, James Price, aged 17, Boy; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 9 June 1856, sent 9 June 1856 to Hospital of Santa Isabel, returned 29 June 1856. Folio 13: case no 231, Mark Holly, aged 16, Boy; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 14 June 1856, sent 14 June 1856 to Hospital of Santa Isabel, returned 29 June 1856. Folio 13: case no 232, Mr F W Inglefield, aged 20, Mate; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 14 June 1856, sent 14 June 1856 to Hospital of Santa Isabel, returned 29 June 1856. Folio 13: case no 148, John Ward, aged 19, Boy; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow), exhibiting the same symptoms in the onset as the preceeding but the fever lasted about 60 hours, and the irritability od stomach was much less than in most cases, according to the surgeon, he did not observe any yellow tinge of skin untill after death. He also stated that the patient brain was evidently affected at an early perriod, the patient being very restless & would not remain in his cot...there was no vomiting after the first 48 hours, bowels constipated, after the fever abated he sank into a very low state from which he never rallied; put on sick list 6 May 1856, died 13 May 1856.

Folio 14: case no 152, Henry Hill, aged 18, Boy; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow), exactly simily to the preceeding case; put on sick list 9 May 1856, died 15 May 1856. Folio 14: case no 163, Richard Walters, aged 33, Sailmaker; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 12 May 1856, died 18 May 1856. Folio 14: case no 151, John Nicoll, aged 17, Boy; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow), the symptoms were similar at the on set to the other cases, but the head never became affected and the stomach was excessively irritable and would retain nothing...the vomiting continued, at first green matter and after about 48 hours black vomiting which continued untill death; put on sick list 8 May 1856, died 12 May 1856. Folio 14: case no 184, Samuel Stoddart, aged 20, Gun Room Coole; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 22 May 1856, died 27 May 1856. Folio 14: case no 200, Robert Rees, aged 24, Ship's Steward; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 27 May 1856, died 30 May 1856. Folio 14: case no 205, Samuel [Cake?], aged 18, Boy; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 29 May 1856, sent 1 June 1856 to Hospital of Santa Isabel, died 3 June 1856. The surgeon mentioned that the treatment on shore was very different to him when he treated on board. Folio 14: case no 221, Samuel Cox, aged 20, Ordinary Seaman; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 7 June 1856, sent 7 June 1856 to Hospital of Santa Isabel, died 12 June 1856. Folio 14: case no 193, Henry Johns, aged 17, Boy; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 25 May 1856, sent 1 June 1856 to Hospital of Santa Isabel, died 1 June 1856. Folio 14: case no 229, Henry Heather, aged 21, Private Marine; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 11 June 1856, died 15 June 1856. Folio 14: case no 236, James Hand, aged 21, Private Marine; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow); put on sick list 17 June 1856, died 22 June 1856. Folio 14: case no 223, Mr W [J?]. Scovell, aged 27, Lieutenant; sick or hurt, febris biliosa (yellow), according to the surgeon, in this case it was yellow fever without fever , there was no hot stage neither was the pulse accelerated. The first symptoms of disease was a slight cold shiver, a sense of nausea and great lassitude; put on sick list 7 June 1856, died [18?] June 1856.

Folio 15: case no 235, Mr James Loden, aged 24, Asst. Surgeon; sick or hurt, febris biliosa, of this case the surgeon the patient was attacked when on shore in Rio De Janeiro, he was conveyed immediately to hospital at Botafogo Bay by a Brazilian named Peixoto, who practiced homeopathy; put on sick list 15 June 1856, died 19 June 1856. Folio 15: case no 153, James Purvis, aged 24, Able Seaman; sick or hurt, febris biliosa, a very severe paroxysm of fever (with great irritability of stomach); put on sick list 9 May 1856, discharged 26 May 1856 to duty. Folio 15: case no 154, Charles Barlow, aged 20, Ordinary Seaman; sick or hurt, febris biliosa; put on sick list 9 May 1856, sent 1 June 1856 to Hospital, returned 9 June 1856. Folio 15: case no 157, Keny Carter, aged 20, Private Marine; sick or hurt, febris biliosa; put on sick list 9 May 1856, sent 1 June 1856 to Hospital, returned 20 June 1856. Folio 15: case no 161, Richard Spiller, aged 27, Captain Forcastle; sick or hurt, febris biliosa, the surgeon stated that, this was a worse cases he had ever seen, which did not terminate fatally. The fever lasting more than 70 hours, then a black vomited almost constantly for four days; put on sick list 11 May 1856, sent 1 June 1856 to Hospital, returned 3 July 1856. Folio 15: case no 162, Samuel Croole, aged 30, Able Seaman; sick or hurt, febris biliosa; put on sick list 11 May 1856, sent 1 June 1856 to Hospital, returned 3 June 1856. Folio 15: case no 164, James Marshall, aged 21, Gunner's Mate; sick or hurt, febris biliosa; put on sick list 12 May 1856, sent 1 June 1856 to Hospital, returned 20 June 1856.
