Folio 13: Abstract of the preceding journal, being a summary of all the cases contained therein, nosologically arranged.

Folios 14-15: Surgeon's general remarks. The weather was variable and the winds mostly adverse, temperature ranged between 75 and 46. On 23 October 1830 the first 30 prisoners were received and on 29 October another 30 at Spithead, mostly young and apparently healthy. The cold weather at Spithead and the thin clothing of the prisoners gave rise to many catarrhal affections, but only the podagra was severe. On reaching warm southern latitudes he quickly improved. The opthalmia case was sent to the hospital to get a more effective man in return. The angina occurred in a very athletic young man, brought on by an indolent life style. He was very emaciated when sent to the hulks. The epilepsia was very slight and was a servant of Major Tyldens RE, it was caused by derangement of the stomach and the bowels. The other 57 cases need no comment. Bermuda, 12 January 1831. A Sanderson, acting Surgeon Superintendent.
