- Folio 359. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to C E Trevelyan of HM Treasury regarding a loan of £2,000 to be requested by the guardians of the Basford Union for the necessary enlargement of the workhouse. While aware that the loan period should not normally be extended to 20 years in cases where the sum amounted to less than one third of the average annual expenditure of the union, the Commissioners ask whether in view of the depressed state of trade the precedent of Warminster might be followed in this case and the extension to 20 years be allowed by HM Treasury. Paper Number: 8454/B/1842. Poor Law Union Number 334. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
