- Folio 350. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to William Hogg, Overseer of the Basford Poor Law Union, concerning land, in the parish of Woodborough, which has been sold by the churchwardens and overseers without the sanction of the Poor Law Commission. The Commission explain that if the land belonged to a charity it could not be sold. However, if the land belonged to the parish, a legal case must be made to sell it under the provisions of the act 5 & 6 Wm 4 - C.09, which act requires the sale to be subject to the rules and regulations of the Poor Law Commission. They enclose a copy of their letter of 25 February 1841 (459/B) [not included] and ask for the name of the purchaser. Paper Number: 8259/B/1842. Poor Law Union Number 334. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
