Folios 348-349. Letter from William Hogg, Overseer of the Basford Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, informing them that land, in the parish of Woodborough, has been sold for £110 by the churchwardens and overseers of the parish. The proceeds of the sale have been used to pay a debt of £100 to the Basford Poor Law Union and the remaining £10 has been lodged in the poor accounts. Annotated: Mr Lumley [William Golden Lumley, Assistant Secretary to the Poor Law Commission], inform them that if the land belonged to a charity it could not be sold and if it belonged to the parish it could not be sold without the sanction of the Poor Law Commission. Ask for the name of the purchaser. Paper Number: 8259/B/1842. Poor Law Union Number 334. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
