- Folio 104. Letter from William Ashton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, concerning relieving officers being appointed as registrars. As Mr F Walker's services have been 'dispensed with' the Basford guardians ask the Commission's approval for the recommendation to the Registrar General of the appointment of Henry Leivers, Relieving Officer, as registrar of births and deaths. The appointment of G Winfield, Relieving Officer and Registrar of Births and Deaths pro tem, having been terminated, the Basford Guardians request the recommendation for him continuing to hold the position. As the duties of relieving officers have been reduced by appointing an additional officer, it will now enable them to obtain a complete registration. Annotated: Approve and sanction as requested. Paper Number: 7020/C/1838. Poor Law Union Number 334. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
