Folio 9: case no 23, no on ship's book 11-39, George Allcock, aged 22, Marine Light Infantry; taken ill at Yokohama; sick or hurt, wounded across the back of the 2nd joint of 2 right finger, inflicted by a razor; put on sick list 16 March 1876, sent 20 March 1876 to Royal Naval Sick Quarter at Yokohama. Folio 9: case no 24, no on ship's book 11-40, Alfred Dabney, aged 26, Marine Light Infantry; taken ill at Yokohama; sick or hurt, primary syphilis; put on sick list 23 March 1876, sent 23 March 1876 to Royal Naval Sick Quarter at Yokohama.

Folios 9-10: case no 25, no on ship's book 5-120, Joseph Yeoman, aged 29, Stoker; taken ill at Yokohama; sick or hurt, secondary syphilis; put on sick list 27 March 1876, sent 28 March 1876 to Royal Naval Sick Quarter at Yokohama, invalided 28 December 1876, he returned to the ship next spring.

Folio 12: case no 32, no on ship's book 15-66, Peter Sturley, aged 37, Able Seaman; taken ill at [sea?]; sick or hurt, fractured of 1st metacarpal bone of right hand; put on sick list 16 April 1876, discharged 14 May 1876 to duty. Folio 12: case no 33, no on ship's book 15-198, Caleb Durham, aged 20, Ordinary Seaman; taken ill at Hong Kong; sick or hurt, constitutional syphilis; put on sick list 17 April 1876, sent 8 May 1876 to Royal Naval Hospital at Hong Kong by HMS Hornet.

Folios 12-13: case no 34, no on ship's book 5-86, Benjamin Johnson, aged 37, Boatswain's Mate; taken ill at Hong Kong; sick or hurt, palpitation; put on sick list 19 April 1876, invalided 20 July 1876.

Folio 13: case no 35, no on ship's book 11-50, Edwin Maybey, aged 37, Marine Light Infantry; taken ill at Hong Kong; sick or hurt, organic disease of heart; put on sick list 23 April 1876, sent 8 May 1876 to Royal Naval Hospital at Hong Kong as subject for invalided, he was sent to England on 20 July 1876 and he was invaleded out of the service of the Royal Marine Corp. Folio 13: case no 36 (no 1), no on ship's book 50-16, Frederick Allshorn, aged 19, Ordinary Seaman; sick or hurt, concussion cerebri, in consequence a fall out of the main rigging; put on sick list 28 August 1875, returned 9 October 1875. case no 36 (no 2), on 26 April 1876 when walked on shore on leave had 2 epileptic fits, his 2 friends said there was no cry but he returned pale and fell to the ground inconscious…he said that he had a fit when he was 11 years of age, his father was invalided from the London Police Force on account of epilepsy…, sent on 8 May 1876 to Royal Naval Hospital at Hong Kong by HMS Hornet, recommended as a fit subject for invalided, he was sent to England on 14 June 1876.

Folio 14: case no 37, no on ship's book 3-14, Mr T Smith, aged 41, Boatswain; taken ill at Shanghai; sick or hurt, epedidymitis of left side; put on sick list 1 May 1876, sent 11 May 1876 to Civil Hospital at Shanghai, discharged 30 May 1876 to duty. Folio 14: case no 37A, no on ship's book 15-29, Edward Fearyer, aged 20, Ordinary Seaman; taken ill at Shanghai; sick or hurt, epedidymitis of right testicle; put on sick list 3 May 1876, sent 9 May 1876 to Civil Hospital at Shanghai, discharged 30 May 1876 to duty. Folio 14: cases no 38-40, no on ship's book 11-36, John Ball, aged 29, Private Royal Marine Light Infantry; taken ill at Shanghai; sick or hurt, syphilitic bubo, with suppurating of the left groin; put on sick list 4 May 1876, sent 9 May 1876 to Civil Hospital at Shanghai, discharged 17 May 1876 to duty. Case no 39, This patient was entered on the sick list on 1 June with epedidymitis of right cord of testicle…he was sent to Hospital at Shanghai on 10 July 1876 and returned 28 August 1876 to the ship. Case no 40, on the 8 September this patient again came with swollen, hot and painful state of both testicles and was under treatment to 2 October, the Charybdis with the detached squadron was leaving Shanghai for England, the Surgeon sent him to hospital to await passage which left on 6 [October].

Folio 15: case no 41, no on ship's book 15-93, William J Gilbert, aged 18, Ordinary Seaman; taken ill at Shanghai; sick or hurt, gonorrhoea & sympathetic bubo; put on sick list 10 May 1876, sent 15 May 1876 to Civil Hospital at Shanghai, the Surgeons recommended him as a fit subject for invalided and sent him to Royal Naval Hospital at Hong Kong on [19?] August, afterwards he was sent to England on [4?] August 1876. Folio 15: case no 42, no on ship's book 15-95, Alfred May, aged 19, Ordinary Seaman; taken ill at Shanghai; sick or hurt, sympathetic bubo in left groin and venereal condylomata; put on sick list 10 May 1876, sent 12 June 1876 to Civil Hospital at Shanghai, returned 20 July 1876 to duty. Folio 15: case no 43, no on ship's book 5-164, George Gibbs, aged 24, Able Seaman; taken ill at Shanghai; sick or hurt, gonorrhoea; put on sick list 4 May 1876, sent 26 May 1876 to Hospital, recovered 12 June 1876 and returned to the ship.

Folios 15-16: case no 44, no on ship's book 5-216, Edward J Smith, aged 21, Ordinary Seaman; sick or hurt, jaundice; put on sick list 7 July 1876, discharged 16 July 1876 to duty.

Folio 16: case no 45, no on ship's book 3-13, Mr Edwin Bishop, aged 41, Gunner; taken ill at Shanghai; sick or hurt, hemorrhoids & ulcer of the rectum; put on sick list 17 July 1876, discharged 26 July 1876 cured. Folio 16: case no 46, no on ship's book 5-210, James Castles, aged 38, Assistant Sick Berth Attendant; taken ill at Hong Kong; sick or hurt, rheumatism; put on sick list 28 July 1876, invalided 4 September 1876.

Folios 16-17: case no 47, no on ship's book 5-97, George Lawrence, aged 31, Caulker's Mate; taken ill at Shanghai; sick or hurt, epedidymitis & gonorrhoea; put on sick list 30 July 1876, returned 11 September 1876 to the Ship cured.

Folio 17: case no 48, no on ship's book 5-150, Charles Hillary, aged 23, School's Master; taken ill at Shanghai; sick or hurt, enteric fever; put on sick list 5 August 1876, returned 20 October 1876 to the Ship.
