Folios 209-210. Letter from Thomas Watkins, Clerk to the Guardians of the Cardiff Poor Law Union, to Poor Law Commission, replying to their letter of the 21 August 1844 enquiring why no bond had been taken from the master of the workhouse for the discharge of his duties of his office. He goes on to explain that it was not thought necessary as he did not handle any money for the union. Annotated: point out that although the master does not handle any money of the union he does have the responsibility of the provisions and stores belonging to the union. Also refer them to the general order requiring the master to give security and request that the guardians call upon him to do so in conformity with the order, 29 August 1844. Paper Number: 15160/B/1844. Poor Law Union Number 613. Counties: Glamorganshire and Monmouthshire.
