Folio 201. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission, to Thomas Watkins, Clerk to the Guardians of the Cardiff Poor Law Union, acknowledging their letter of the 15 July 1844 relating to the appointment of Benjamin Bowen as Collector of the Poor Rates for the parishes of St John and St Mary Cardiff and also as Clerk's Assistant to the said parishes. He states that the Commissioners consider it will be necessary to make some alteration in the order directing the appointment - as they deem it better to deal with the case until the Bill now before Parliament shall have been passed. Initialled: W G L [William Golden Lumley, Assistant Secretary to the Poor Law Commission]. Paper Number: 13598/B/1844. Poor Law Union Number 613. Counties: Glamorganshire and Monmouthshire.
