Description
Content
Folio 198. Letter from E Davies, Surgeon, Llantrissent [Llantrisant} District, Cardiff Poor Law Union to the Poor Law Commission, replying to their letter of the 15 July 1844 stating that he did not consider that Henry Williams' life was retarded or death accelerated by his going to Llantrissent [Llantrisant] for the stump was healed and the man was in the habit of going out a little daily. He had been informed that the man drank too much except one evening a few days prior to his death which probably was the cause of death. He was a patient of Mr Harrison who was the works doctor in which the accident occurred and states that he was never in any way engaged in the case. His services were refused on the night of the accident when he called at the request of Mr Cook of Llantrissent [Llantrisant] as he had explained before. Annotated: copy of correspondence as regards the Cardiff Poor Law Union made and given to Mr Lewis [George Cornwall Lewis, Poor Law Commissioner].
