Folio 424. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to William Ashton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union, acknowledging his letter of 19 May enquiring whether overseers can be summonsed upon the 95 section of the Poor Law Amendment Act for orders made on them by the board of guardians for the relief of the poor. Or if the 1& 2 Vic c 56 overrides the other act in this respect. The Commissioners state that the 95 section of the poor law act is unaffected by any of the provisions in the other act, which is only concerned with the relief of the destitute poor of Ireland. Paper Number: 6075/B/1841. Poor Law Union Number 334. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
