- Folio 165. Letter from William Ashton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union, to Edwin Chadwick, [Secretary to the Poor Law Commission], sending for their approval the Quarterly abstracts Forms 11 and 12 from Mr Riley, Auditor. Most of the Board meeting was about the offers to supply the workhouse and three parishes, Arnold, Basford and Bulwell with food, coffins, coal and other goods. Rates for supplying the above given. Out relief ordered. Annotated: Mr M Choles. Annotated: Acknowledge. Enquire as to other [essences]. Refer abstract to Mr Hodgkin and letter to Mr Gulson [Edward Gulson, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner], for his information. JL [John George Shaw Lefevre, Commissioner]. Annotated: Thanks. Gulson.
