- Folios 161-162. Letter from George Spencer, Clerk to the Guardians of the Keighley Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, acknowledging their letter of 26 October, 39208/1852, regarding the general order of 25 August 1852. He encloses a copy of a resolution passed 3 November 1852. The enclosed resolution refers the Board once again to their memorial already sent to them and their reasons for requesting the order be rescinded. The guardians refuse to carry out the order. If this is not done they will refuse to sit as a board of guardians. The relieving officers will continue as before. Annotated: Mr Farnell [Harry Farnall, Poor Law Inspector] to attend to this union as soon he can. Acknowledge and state that Farnall will attend a meeting with them as soon as he can - but he will not be able to attend their regular meetings until 1 December. the Board ask if the guardians would agree to a special meeting on 20 November.
