Folio 30: Table 1: A list of men who during the period of this journal, have received wounds or hurts which may disqualify them for the public service, or subsequently in any way interfere with their earning a livelihood. (Names and details follow). Number on the ship's books, 5 list 4; Mr. Edward Taylor, aged 30, Engineer, hurts, contusion and laceration of right foot caused by machinery in motion while on duty; certificate granted 14 February 1867. Number on the ship's books, 27 list 10; Charles Buike, aged 17, Boy 1st Class, hurts, concussion of brain, fall down fore hatchway from main deck to top of tanks in fore hold; certificate not granted. Number on the ship's books, 23 list 10; Samuel Dunn, aged 17, Boy 1st Class, hurts, concussion of brain and contusion of back, fall from main top to deck and struck brass stannchion of hatchway with his back in the fall; certificate not granted. Signed: Pierce Mansfield BA. MD., Surgeon RN.

Folio 31: Table 2: All cases between 1 December 1866 and 31 December 1866. Average numerical strength of the Ship's Company, 310.

Folios 34-47: Surgeon's general remarks, including the commissioning of the ship by Captain Richard Purvis [folio 34]; arrangement of sick bay, rules for sick berth, arrangement of messing of the sick [folio 35]; ventilation and accommodation [folio 36]; notes on the movements of the ship which includes notes on natural history and geology and occurrence of diseases on board during the passage from Plymouth to Sierra Leone and Cape of Good Hope [folio 36], Simon's Bay to Zanzibar [folio 37], from Zanzibar to Mozambique [folios 38-39], and from Zanzibar to Simon's Bay [folio 40]; synopsis of disease, fever in case no 23 James Watts, case no 48 Frederick Abbott and case no 49 John Prince [folio 41]; continued fever epidemic at the Cape, table showing weekly return at Somerset Hospital at Cape Town [folios 42-43]; notes on general diseases, injuries and treatment that occurred on board [folios 43-46] summarised the total number of sick for the year with 3 invalided, case no 51 Robert Cockburn, Case no 75 Ebenezer Bailey and case no 76 Johnston Salter [folio 47].
