Folios 258-259. Letter from W and E Willoby [William Willoby and Edward Willoby], Clerks to the Guardians of the Berwick-upon-Tweed Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission,concerning the appointment of a porter to the workhouse, enclosing the resolution made at the meeting of the board on 19 Mar 1839. It resolved that Patrick Hogg be appointed as Porter for the workhouse at a salary of £8 per annum. He would have use of the house at the entrance and be allowed food, coals and washing from the workhouse. To start on Saturday night and continue during the pleasure of the Board. Annotated: John Walsham [Assistant Poor Law Commissioner] for his opinion. Approved and confirmed. Paper Number: 1902/B/1839. Town and County of Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland and North Durham [detached].
