Folios 117-118. Letter from Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, reporting the appointments of officers to the Kidderminster Poor Law Union from 3 January 1837, as follows: Charles Walford, Collector of Poor Rates and Assistant Overseer for the Borough of Kidderminster. John Gethin, Collector of Poor Rates and Assistant Overseer for Kidderminster Foreign. James Barber, Collector of Poor Rates the Borough of Bewdley. Walford, Gethin and Barber all to be paid at a rate of 3 pence in the pound above £3 and 6d in the pound at £3 or below. [Stephen Dudley], Collector of Poor Rates and Assistant Overseer for the parish of Wolverley, at a rate of 4 pence in the pound above £3 and 8 pence in the pound at £3 or below. At a meeting on 10 January 1837, the guardians also resolved: The salary for a porter at either of the workhouses would be £20 per annum, 'with such provisions as the House affords' [in addition]. The [joint] salary for Joseph Stevens, Governor [Master] of the Workhouse, and his wife [Mary Stevens], Matron, is to be increased to £40 [from £20]. Annotation from Robert Weale, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner, approving the appointments and salaries. Paper Number: 587/C/1837. Poor Law Union Number 530.
