Folios 114-116. Letter from Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, sending the consent form [not included], signed by the guardians, for the purchase of the old workhouse and land. Also enclosed is a form, titled 'No XV Application for a loan', headed 'To the Corporation of the Royal Exchange Assurance' and completed 10 January 1837, applying for a loan of £6,000 for erecting a new workhouse. The guardians propose to borrow three sums of £2,000 each, to be paid to them on 1 February 1837, 1 April 1837 and 1 August 1837. They intend to repay the total in ten annual instalments of £600 each, at an interest rate printed on the form as £4 10s per cent per annum. The form is signed by the following guardians, in the presence of Henry Saunders: Ex officio guardians: The Right Honourable Earl of Mountnorris, Abraham Turner, G Talbot [George Talbot], L W Ingram, H Talbot [Henry Talbot], Reverend Thomas Harward, John Lea. Guardians representing the parishes: Joseph Fletcher, Bewdley. Joseph Rogers, Lower Mitton. Thomas Pardoe, Kidderminster Borough. Benjamin Whittaker, Churchill. John Blakeway, Chaddesley Corbett. John Smith, Ribbesford. John Allen, Upper Arley. John Amphlett, Stone. John Hancocks, Wolverley. Annotations on the letter and the form state that the treaty for the purchase of the land in question has been abandoned. Paper Number: 509/C/1837. Poor Law Union Number 530. Counties: Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
