Folios 110-111. Letter from Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, forwarding a description of the premises and land proposed for purchase by the guardians from the parish authorities of the Borough of Kidderminster, together with the price agreed with the churchwardens and overseers of the poor. Saunders states that the guardians will sign the consent form at a meeting the following Tuesday, also that they have decided to borrow £6,000 from Royal Exchange Assurance and that the papers will be sent to the Commission after the meeting. The enclosed document titled 'Description of Land and Buildings proposed to be purchased by the Guardians of the Kidderminster Union from the [Borough] of Kidderminster' describes the area of the land, about 4,578 square yards, the precise position of the plot, approximately on the corner of Broad Street, Churchfields and the Horsefair, as well as the owners of adjacent land and the buildings on the plot (summarised below). To the south of the plot is property of George Crump, to the east property of the representatives of the late John Jefferys, to the west property of Widow Cluner and William Lea. The buildings on the workhouse plot are listed as the workhouse, hospital, dead house, debtors prison, stable, shed, also other buildings. The price agreed for purchase of the buildings and land is £1,350, subject to approval from the parish. Paper Number: 138/C/1837. Poor Law Union Number 530.
