Description
Content
Folio 109. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, acknowledging his letter of 7 January 1837 regarding who is responsible for paying pensioners. Although the Commission has no objection to the churchwardens and overseers continuing to receive and pay out the authorised pensions of paupers, they state that, as the guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union now have exclusive responsibility for the administration of poor relief and will have to make the appropriate decisions on pensions, it would be proper for the relieving officers of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union to administrate such relief. Paper Number: 124/C/1837. Poor Law Union Number 530. Counties: Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
