Description
Content
Folios 103-104. Letter from Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, reporting new appointments of Kidderminster Poor Law Union officers, also that the guardians have modified the medical districts agreed earlier. They have effectively sub-divided the Bewdley and Wolverley medical districts. The appointments are as follows, including salaries [no further details]: Robert Wilkinson, Relieving Officer, Kidderminster District, £100 per annum. Joseph Stevens, Relieving Officer for Bewdley District, £100 per annum. John Gethin, Master of the Kidderminster Foreign Workhouse (temporary), £35 per annum. Ann Simmons, Matron of Kidderminster Foreign Workhouse, £20 per annum. John Stevens, Master of Bewdley Workhouse (temporary) and wife, Mary Stevens, Matron of Bewdley Workhouse (temporary), [jointly] £20 per annum. Thomas Thursfield, Medical Officer, Kidderminster Medical District. £110 per annum. Richard Barnett, Medical Officer, Lower Mitton Medical District, £25 per annum. John Williams, Medical Officer, Bewdley Medical District, £40 per annum. Thomas Bradley, Medical Officer, Wolverley Medical District, £30 per annum. Edward Jackson, Medical Officer, Chaddesley Corbett Medical District, £30 per annum. The guardians also inform the Commission that the Bewdley and Wolverley medical districts, as originally agreed, have now both been divided, as follows: Bewdley: District 1: Lower Mitton [Stouport on Severn]. District 2: Ribbesford, Bewdley, Upper Arley, Dowles. Wolverley: District 1: Wolverley, Churchill, Broome. District 2: Chaddesley Corbett, Rushock, Stone. The changes seem to be because of wide geographical areas, the salaries allocated previously have been split. Annotation: to approve. Paper Number: 5128/C/1836. Poor Law Union Number 530. Counties: Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
