Folios 37-38. Letter from A Y Bird and William Brinton, [Solicitors in Kidderminster], to the Poor Law Commission, enclosing a petition from the ratepayers of Kidderminster requesting the Commission to form a Poor Law Union in Kidderminster as soon as possible. Although containing about 80 signatures, the cover letter states that the petition would have been signed by nearly all the ratepayers if it had not been for urgency of the situation. The petition stresses the importance of introducing a 'system of management' to effectively control 'the collection and application of the Funds for the relief of the poor' and requests that the Assistant Commissioner bring the town 'within operation of the recent measures' without delay.
