Folios 1-5: Copy of daily sick list.
Folio 5: case no 1, John Harold, aged 21, Ordinary Seaman; taken ill at Jamaica; sick or hurt, catarrh; put on sick list 1 February 1840, discharged 2 February 1840 to duty.
Folios 5-6: case no 2, William Edwards, aged 37, Able Seaman; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, dysentery; put on sick list 4 February 1840, discharged 26 February 1840 to duty, in April the patient again applied for relief from ulceration of the rectum.
Folio 6: case no 3, John Barry, aged 23, Ordinary Seaman taken ill at Jamaica; sick or hurt, palsy, slight distortion of the mouth – the consequence of an attack of paralysis previous to his entry into the Navy in August 1838, he was one of the newly raised men in this ship – whose complaint of infirmities rendered him unserviceable at the time of entry, he was brought forwards for invaliding at Jamaica and rejected as the Surgeon of the Hospital was one of the invaliding officers, he was sent to Port Royal Hospital and discharged (cured !), he rejoined the ship in the same state or rather worse, than when he went to hospital, he was invalided on 25 September 1840 at Quebec.
Folios 6-7: case no 4, Thomas Goldsmith, aged 21, Landsman; taken ill at Port Royal; sick or hurt, pneumonia; put on sick list 8 February 1840, sent 8 February 1840 to Port Royal Hospital, where he died of fever attacked while convalescent.
