Folios 238B-240. Letter from Richard Chapman, writing for the clerk to the guardians of the Truro Poor Law Union, to Colonel Wade [Colonel Thomas F Wade], Assistant Poor Law Commissioner, enclosing a table of the proposed new averages. He requests that they should take effect at the end of the present quarter. Table showing total expenditure, average and establishment average for the years 1838-1839, 1839-1840 and 1840-1841, for the parishes of Truro Union. The parishes listed are: St Mary, Truro; St Agnes, St Allen, St Anthony in (Roseland), Cornelly, Cuby, St Clements, St Erme, Feock, Gerrans, St Just (in Roseland, Kea, Kenwyn, Lamorran, Ladock, Merther, St Michael Penkevil, Perranzabuloe, Philleigh, Probus, Ruan Lanyhorne, Tregavethan, Tregony and Veryan. Annotated: a note from Wade that he attended the last meeting of the guardians and explained the principles of averages. He convinced the guardians that they should be declared. Mr Lumley [William Golden Lumley, Assistant Secretary to the Poor Law Commission], 37 copies of new average order sent. Paper Number: 11099/A/1841. Poor Law Union Number 57. Counties: Cornwall.
