Folios 150-153. Letter from R M Hodge [Richard Michell Hodge], Clerk to the Guardians of the Truro Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission. He encloses for approval the appointment form for Thomas Gilbert Hicks as Collecting Officer for Kenwyn. The form shows Hicks, aged 57, of Kenwyn Street, Kenwyn, Truro, is a saddler and had been Assistant Overseer there. Poundage as allowed by Commission. The post became vacant because Mr Pellew [Israel Bray Pellew], who had been appointed previously, was unable to produce the required sureties. Annotated: former paper and refer to Colonel Wade [Colonel Thomas F Wade, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner] who recommended approval. Paper Number: 5757/A/1841. Poor Law Union Number 57. Counties: Cornwall.
