- Folios 148-149. Draft letter from Edwin Chadwick, Secretary to the Poor Law Commission, to the churchwardens and overseers of St Agnes Parish, Truro Poor Law Union, asking them to list on the enclosed form, the number of poor people who have emigrated from their parish since 30 April 1840, under any order issued by them. He requests an early response. Form, returned to the Poor Law Commission and received by them on 6 March 1841, showing no one emigrated from their parish under any order from them, since the specified date. Annotated: urgent. We have not sent out any emigrants, John Letcher, Assistant Overseer. Mr Lumley [William Golden Lumley, Assistant Secretary to the Poor Law Commission]. Paper Number: 5699/A/1841. Poor Law Union Number 57. Counties: Cornwall.
