Folios 375-378. Letter from Henry Edwards Paine, Clerk to Guardians of the Rye Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, enclosing papers relating to the application of the proceeds of the sale of property in the parish of Brede and requesting the Commission's order of approbation. Sale of Parish Property Form 'Aa'. Liquidation of Debt. Notice of a meeting of the ratepayers and owners of property in the parish of Brede for the purpose of giving consent to the guardians to use the sum of £263 0s 10d from the sale of certain premises in the parish in liquidation of money borrowed from William Coleman, Thomas Ades and John Ades for the purpose of building a new part to the workhouse used by the parish. Signed by: William Coleman, Churchwarden; John Bourne, Churchwarden; Richard Young, Overseer to the Poor; James Baker, Overseer to the Poor. Sale of Parish Property Form. 'Certificate of Minister, Churchwardens and Overseers, of the Forms of Act having been complied with', concerning the sale of property in the parish of Brede. Signed by: George Ash, Minister; William Coleman, Churchwarden; John Bourne, Churchwarden; Richard Young, Overseer to the Poor; James Baker, Overseer to the Poor. Sale of Parish Property Form 'Bb'. Liquidation of Debt. Resolution of a meeting of the parish of Brede, consenting to the sum of £263 0s 10d produced from the sale of buildings, yard and garden ground situated in the parish of Brede hereto used as a workhouse to be using in liquidation of a debt. Votes carrying the resolution unanimously were: John Bourne, Henry Smith, John Ades, J David Smith, junior, James Richardson, Thomas Bourne, John Coleman, Richard Young, George Bonnet. Resolution signed by: William Coleman, Chairman; John Bourne, Churchwarden; Richard Young, Overseer to the Poor; James Baker, Overseer to the Poor. Copy of securities of debt on Brede parish. Dated 26 January 1819. Promise to pay £100 plus 5% interest per annum to William Coleman. Signed by: Aaron Ades, Robert Mercer, James Richardson, [Thomas Furmur], G Miller, William Coleman, junior, John Ades, Edmond Austen for T Austen, John Bourne, junior, D Smith, [Francis Bourne], [J P Richardson], [William Smith], Interest on the above from 26 January to 17 December 1838: 324 days, £4 8s 8d. Dated 1 July 1836. Promise to pay £155 to H Curteis. Signed by: William Coleman, junior, D Smith, H Smith, John Ades, Thomas Bourne, John Bourne. Calculation of the liquidation sum is detailed.
