Folios 355B-358. Letter from Henry Edwards Paine, Clerk to Guardians of the Rye Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, enclosing a copy of the resolution of the parishioners of Udimore relating to the payment of monies owing to Messrs Pomfret and Company out of the proceeds of the sale of property and requesting the Commission's order of approbation. Copy of Promise to Pay Note dated Udimore, 1 July 1838 signed by: Lawrence Reeve, Stephen Gorringe and P D Stonham. Calculation of the liquidation sum is set out, Sale of Parish Property Form 'Aa'. Liquidation of Debt. Notice of a meeting of the ratepayers and owners of property in the parish of Udimore for the purpose of giving consent to the guardians to use the sum of £210 from the sale of certain premises in the parish in liquidation of £217 2s 6d, borrowed from Messrs Richard, Curteis, Pomfich [Pomfret], Pix, Bellingham and Pix, Bankers, Rye for the purpose of purchasing and for payment of alterations and repairs of a house used by the parish. 'Certificate of Minister, Churchwardens and Overseers, of the Forms of Act having been complied with', concerning the sale of property in the parish of Udimore. Signed by: James Allen Smith, Minister; Lawrence Reeve, Churchwarden; William Henley, Churchwarden; Jessie Foster's X mark, Overseer to the Poor; John Woodhams, Overseer to the Poor. Sale of Parish Property Form 'Bb'. Liquidation of Debt. Resolution of a meeting of the parish of Udimore, consenting to the sum of £200 2s 6d produced from the sale of freehold garden ground and premises situated in the parish of Udimore hereto used as a workhouse to be using in liquidation of a debt of £210 0s 0d plus £7 2s 6d interest. Votes carrying the resolution unanimously were: John Woodhams, 3 votes as ratepayer; W R Woodhams, 4 votes as ratepayer; William Henley, 2 votes as ratepayer; P D Stonham, 1 vote as ratepayer; Lawrence Reeve, junior, 1 vote as ratepayer; Lawrence Reeve, senior, 2 votes as ratepayer. Resolution signed by: P D Stonham, Chairman; Lawrence Reeve, Churchwarden; Jessie Foster's X mark, Overseer to the Poor; John Woodhams, Overseer to the Poor.
