- Folios 334-335. Draft letter from [Edwin Chadwick, Secretary to the Poor Law Commission] to H E Payne [Henry Edwards Paine], Clerk to Guardians of the Rye Poor Law Union, relating to raising the sum of £3 for the purposes of emigration from the parish of Rye, declining to issue an order for such a small amount as the legislature for emigration purposes is not for raising small sums from time to time. Furthermore, an order sanctioning emigration so soon after the last order would be not issued unless good reasons could be shown for an additional fund and the reasons why it could not have been included in the previous resolution. Paper Number: 10016/C/1838. Poor Law Union Number 484. Counties: Sussex.
