Folios 327-328. List of persons embarking at Gravesend for Sydney, Australia from the parish of Iden and the expenses of their emigration: On board the Orient on 23 October 1838: Henry Field, aged 27 years. Ann Field, aged 28 years. Caroline Field, aged 4 years. Clothes were supplied by [Jeffery Bowles] for £3 10s, and by James Catt for £1 6s 11s. Playford supplied shoes for £1 3s. Edward Banister's expenses carrying twelve persons to Gravesend [Kent] for £1 5s. The above list and expenses certified by and dated 29 October 1838: Samuel Pix and James Catt, churchwardens; Benjamin Batten and Henry Wood, Overseers of the Poor. Note recording that, of the order to raise £25 in connection with the emigration from the parish of Iden, £7 4s 11d has been expended. Annotated: Mr Parker [Henry Walter Parker, Assistant Secretary to the Poor Law Commission], 21 October 1838. Acknowledge and state that the expenditure appears to be within the Commission's order and that the balance of the fund will be applicable to future emigration. [Parker], 27 October 1838.
