Letter from Samuel Selmes, Beckley, to the Poor Law Commission enclosing for the Commission's approval the forms of the procedures authorising the guardians to use £65 for emigration purposes. Completed emigration form A, 'Notice of meeting to consent to raising or borrowing money for emigration purposes'; emigration form B 'Resolution entered in Vestry Book' and emigration form C Certificate of Minister, Churchwardens and Overseers of the Forms of the Act having been complied with' for the parish of Beckley. Signed by: [------ Lorne], Minister; Alfred Blackman, Churchwarden; Samuel Selmes, Chairman and Churchwarden; James Gilbert and Samuel Stonham, Overseer of the Poor. Annotated: Mr Parker [Henry Walter Parker, Assistant Secretary to the Poor Law Commission], 21 October 1838. Issue order, 3 November 1838. Date emigration order 9 November 1838 and sent. 10 November 1838. 6 copies. Paper Number: 9875/C/1838. Poor Law Union Number 484. Counties: Sussex.
