Folio 477. Letter from Charles Hart, Clerk to the Liverpool Select Vestry, to Poor Law Board, acknowledging their letter of 29 October 1852 enclosing a letter from W A Dockrall. The select vestry wish to observe that 'this Pauper, who appears to occupy himself extensively in letter writing' has written to them many times. Before he entered the workhouse he wrote to accuse his son of refusing to support him. The son has refuted this and accused his father of 'intemperate habits'. Dockrall has before offered to cure 'All the Epileptic and Lunacy cases at the Workhouse for a sum of £20', in which letters he praised 'your good institution' He quitted the workhouse, after 'an insult' saying he was sufficiently well to work at the mill. The select vestry consider the letter carries 'its own condemnation'. Annotated: 'I think this correspondence may close', H B Farnall, [Poor Law Inspector]. 'Put By' Paper Number: 46505/1852.
