- Folio 256. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, acknowledging his letter dated 22 March 1848 about the relief to a partially disabled pauper for his maintenance during the proposed apprenticeship to a tailor. The Board informs the guardians that It is not possible to sanction the payment without establishing a dangerous precedent. A better course would be for the guardians to advance an adequate premium under the Apprenticeship Order. The sum raised by charity would increase the premium thereby securing the conditions of the indenture. Paper Number: 8410/1848. Poor Law Union Number 530. Counties: Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
