- Folio 253. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, acknowledging a letter dated 19 February 1848 in which the Guardians enquired if they would be justified in allowing 4 to 5 shillings weekly to a pauper of Wolverley. The pauper is disabled by having had his feet burnt. The sum would allow him to maintain himself during a proposed term of apprenticeship to a tailor. The Board states that the allowance is not possible if it is made under the provisions of the General Consolidated Order since Article 70 requires the master of the apprentice to provide him with food and lodging. They need to know if the apprenticeship is to be parochial or voluntary. The guardians should say if the weekly allowance is to be given on account of bodily infirmity under Exception 2 of Article 3 of the Prohibitory Order. Paper Number: 5447/1848. Poor Law Union Number 530. Counties: Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
