Correspondence regarding William Bromley, ex-soldier, convicted in Shropshire on 12 August 1829 for sheep stealing. There is a certificate of insanity from Darwin and Hewitt. Grounds for clemency: the prisoner is an ex-soldier discharged on 10 December 1818 on a per diem pension but subject to temporary fits of derangement probably caused by a head wound. Removed to the county of Chester lunatic asylum 22 December 1830. FP7
