Description

1 individual petition (Eliza Brandon, wife of the prisoner) and 1 collective petition (15 people of Brixton) on behalf of John Brandon, gardener, convicted at Surrey Adjourned Quarter Sessions held at Newington, Surrey in December 1830 for stealing handkerchiefs. Grounds for clemency: lack of work resulted in petty theft to maintain his family, 2 infant children. Gaoler's report: man of bad character. Initial sentence: 7 years' transportation. Annotated; nil. FP6
