1 collective petition (126 signatories) on behalf of William Butson convicted Berkshire Summer Assizes held at Abingdon of theft and participation in an assault on Sarah Baker on 25 March 1829. Grounds for clemency: the prisoner 'ignorantly intermixed' in the crowd which assaulted and robbed Sarah Baker but took no part in these activities. Initial sentence: death commuted to 14 years transportation. Annotated: nil. FO45
