Folio 365. Draft letter from the Local Government Board to John Kirkland, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union acknowledging receipt of the Journal and Diary kept by Mr Henry Dixon, Inspector of Nuisances for the Rural Sanitary District of the Southwell Union.
Upon examination of these books, the Board believe that there does not appear to be such a diminution of the work of the Inspector of Nuisances as to justify the reduction of his salary from £100 to £52 per annum.
The Board must therefore request that the Sanitary Authority will give the subject their re-consideration. It is stated that the books have been returned to Mr Kirkland by railway today.
