Folio 362. Draft letter from the Local Government Board to John Kirkland, Clerk to the Guardians of the Local Government Board, regarding the appointment of Miss Penelope Morley to the Office of Schoolmistress at the Workhouse of the Southwell Union.
As it appears that Miss Morley previously held this office of Schoolmistress at The National Schools at Edwinstowe and Bothamsall, the Board wrote to the Committee at Edwinstowe enquiring as to her character and conduct and to the manner in which she discharged her duties. The Board having received the enclosed form requiring further particulars respecting Miss Morley, request that Mr Kirkland will be good enough to have the form filled in and returned to them.
