Folio 355. Letter from Thomas Tongue, Overseer of Farnsfield, to the Local Government Board.
He reports that he showed Mr Chamberlain the reason why he did not furnish the Board regularly with monthly statements. He was very ill from June to July with a bad attack of a liver complaint and when he was getting better, an abscess formed on his right hand. He could not feed himself for a week. He is not well yet. A large [corn] formed under his large finger knuckle which has left it stiff. He is afraid it will never be better. He hopes the Board will overlook the matter this time for he has had a very bad 6 months.
Annotated to send a copy of the correspondence to the Guardians and await the next Auditor's account.
