Folios 335-349. Annual Report of the Health of Southwell and its Rural Sanitary District from John Beevor, Medical Officer of Health, to the Local Government Board. The Report chronicles outbreaks of fever, such as typhoid, and contagious diseases such as small pox. Bronchitis is briefly mentioned. It documents Dr Beevor's attempts, with named colleagues and associates, to diagnose the illnesses, find the causes, prevent the spread of infection and bring in more permanent preventative measures, such as effective sewage systems. Early warnings of new cases and contingency plans in the event of an epidemic of Smallpox are essential parts of Dr Beevor's approach.
