- Folio 92. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to William Ashton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union. They state that on reading the letter from Mr W Bennett [Assistant Overseer of the Parish of Ilkeston] which he forwarded to them, they are unable to reach a conclusion respecting the wish of the churchwardens and overseers in respect of the valuation of the Parish of Ilkeston. They therefore request further information, and clarification as to whether the parish officers do or do not wish that a valuation should be made. If they do, they should forward a declaration to that effect, using the accompanying form. [not included] Paper Number: 3627/B/1840. Poor Law Union Number 334. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
