Report from Judge Selwyn on behalf of Thomas Fabian and William Wilton convicted at Hampshire Lent Assizes Southampton on 6 March last for stealing 9 fowls, property of James Young on 28 January 1834. There is a letter from B Chapman, Governor of Penitentiary stating prisoners' conduct exemplary during 12 months' imprisonment. There is also a letter from Henry Woodcock. Grounds for clemency: prisoners' youth (both 18 years old), mitigating circumstances submitted by clergy from area where Fabian's parents live. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Annotated: prisoners sent to Penitentiary for 12 months. Gaoler's report: characters unknown. Annotated: ordered to Penitentiary for 1 year 25 April. AT 21
