1 individual petition (the Reverend [Hugh Kercokbaine] Rector of Norton, near Market Drayton, Shropshire) on behalf of Richard Bloor, baker, convicted at the Cheshire Lent Assizes at Chester on March 1834 for receiving 2 stolen horses. There is also a letter from the prisoner to the rector thanking him for his help in reducing his sentence to 10 years transportation and asking him to petition for him to serve his sentence in penitentiary. Gaoler's report: character very bad - married, 2 children. Grounds for clemency: honest respectable family, good character while lived at home until 1829, distress to parents, mother recently died, fallen into bad company during last 2 years, penitent, capable of reform if sent to penitentiary.
