A recommendation for remission of sentence from Stafford Gaol of a female convict, Elizabeth Woodford, convicted at Lent Assizes 1828 of receiving stolen goods, signed by 10 magistrates, the Governor Thomas Bruton, the matron and the chaplain. Grounds for clemency: exemplary conduct in prison, mother of 12 children, bad health, former good character, first offence. Initial sentence: 14 years' transportation. Annotated: discharge her, free pardon prepared November 1829. KO23
