2 collective petitions (Samuel Preece and Ann Preece, prisoner's parents and 26 people) on behalf of Thomas Preece convicted at Worcester Quarter Sessions on 20 October 1820 of stealing 4 elm boards property of Mary Calder. There are also two letters from Mary Calder requesting that Preece should be confined in England; and a letter from Samuel Preece enclosing the petition. Grounds for clemency: parents aged, poor but honest and very distressed, brought up family properly, only offence, a temporary aberration. Initial sentence: 7 years' transportation. Annotated: nil.
