1 individual petition (Ann Mason, convict's mother) on behalf of Joseph Mason convicted at Warwick Summer Assizes 1828 of burglary from Joseph Lyndon of the Blue Coat Charity School Birmingham. Character reference from members of Committee of Blue Coat School. Grounds for clemency: although a poor widow, no family member involved in crime, supported by friends and family after the death of her husband, prisoner a good apprentice, lost his thumb at work so unable to work at his trade, got to know a convict who led him astray, was a good prefect at the Blue Coat School. Initial sentence: death commuted to transportation for life. Annotated: nil. KN24
