Description

Folio 39: William Cashy, aged 46, Convict; disease or hurt, headache, abdominal pains, constipation, retention of urine, cough and difficult respiration, with a little fullness and acceleration of pulse, anorexia and vomiting. Put on sick list, 18 May 1823, at sea. Discharged, 10 July 1823. On the 26 May he is noted as having had several epileptic paroxysms during the night. The aura proceeding form the left great toe, a ligature was tied around the calf and ham and tied tight on its appearance which checked or alleviated the paroxysms.

Had been twice previously in the list with dysentery, he was in danger from 29 June to 10 July suffering incessant vomiting and purging of dark mucus, foetid bloody stools, and great abdominal pain at each evacuation.
